DeepSeek made waves in the U.S. this week: The Chinese chatbot climbed to the top of the Apple and Play stores, with big players like Microsoft jumping on board. But not everyone is on board – “hundreds” of companies, especially those with government ties, are blocking the service over concerns of data leakage to the Chinese government.
Even a San Francisco law firm has said no to DeepSeek. The company’s privacy policy states that all user data is stored in China, where laws require sharing with intelligence agencies upon request. The Pentagon and Navy have also joined the blocking party.
