Unify, an AI-powered startup focused on using data to connect with potential buyers, recently secured a $12 million Series A funding round led by existing investors Emergence Capital and Thrive Capital. Other participants in the round included OpenAI Startup Fund, Neo, Abstract, 20Sales, and AltCap. The company, only 20 months old, completed OpenAI’s Converge I accelerator program last year and then secured a seed round of nearly $7 million from the same group of investors.

Co-founded by Austin Hughes, who previously led Ramp’s sales outbound program, Unify aims to revolutionize sales, marketing, and revenue operations by leveraging available data to deliver personalized content to customers at the right moment. Teaming up with Connor Heggie, a machine learning research engineer at Scale AI, they developed AI-enhanced messaging to help sales teams generate leads and close deals faster.

Differentiating itself from the rapidly growing segment of AI sales development representative companies (AISDR), Unify considers its approach to be delivering “warm outbound” messaging rather than competing directly with AISDRs. By utilizing data from CRMs, data warehouses, and online sources, Unify tailors its messages to potential buyers based on their specific needs and behaviors.

While Unify may have a distinct approach to AI sales outreach, the company is experiencing rapid growth with millions in revenue and a growing list of notable customers such as Justworks and Lattice. Hughes sees Unify as a data company, drawing inspiration from companies like Zoominfo and Outbound.io. The success and trajectory of Unify indicate a promising future ahead.
