X-Ray Recaps: Prime Video’s Latest Feature

Amazon recently introduced a new feature called “X-Ray Recaps,” utilizing generative AI to create concise summaries of TV show seasons, episodes, and even specific parts of episodes. This feature aims to prevent viewers from encountering spoilers while enjoying their favorite series.

How X-Ray Recaps Works

To access X-Ray Recaps, users can visit the detail page of a TV show and use the new rewind icon to choose from three options: recap the current episode, recap the entire season so far, or recap the previous season. Currently in beta, this feature is only available to Fire TV customers in the U.S., with plans to expand to other devices by the end of the year.

Prime Video's AI-powered X-Ray Recaps feature

Using custom AI models built with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker, X-Ray Recaps analyzes video, subtitles, and dialogue to provide descriptions of key events and conversations in real time. It is fully personalized to align with the moment you are watching, offering brief snippets of scenes to enhance the viewing experience.
