Apple recently unveiled iOS 26 at WWDC 2025, showcasing a fresh “Liquid Glass” design language and exciting new features for CarPlay.
Three standout additions include widgets, live activities, and the option to send tapback responses to incoming messages. Users can now also pin their favorite conversations, similar to iMessage.
A noteworthy change highlighted during the event is that the incoming call interface will no longer dominate the entire CarPlay screen. Instead, it will remain small at the bottom, ensuring that phone calls no longer obstruct in-progress navigation.
CarPlay will undergo a design overhaul featuring the sleek transparency of Liquid Glass. These updates will be available on the new CarPlay Ultra launched in May. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming changes to CarPlay as Apple continues discussions with developers post-WWDC.
