Apple is stepping up its game with an upgraded Maps feature that will make your daily commute a breeze. The latest updates, set to roll out in iOS 26, were announced during WWDC 2025.
Your iPhone will now learn your favorite routes for getting home, going to work, or picking up the kids from school. The Maps app will suggest these routes, allowing you to plan your commute in advance and estimate travel time.
Even if you don’t set directions on a usual route, your iPhone will recommend alternative paths to avoid traffic or delays. This new feature aims to ensure users reach their destinations on time.
iPhone users can also opt to have their device remember the places they frequent, like restaurants or shops. This handy feature helps users track their visited locations in the Maps library, with the option to easily delete them. And rest assured, all information is securely encrypted end-to-end.
The iOS 26 update for Apple Maps is just one of the exciting announcements from WWDC 2025. From a revamped software design to improved access for app developers and deeper integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Apple is gearing up for some big changes.
