At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled a new AI-powered Shortcuts app that allows users to tap into Apple Intelligence directly. Developers will now have access to Apple’s on-device large language model (LLM) to create intelligent actions and shortcuts. For example, users can utilize AI to compare audio transcriptions of lectures to notes, summarize text, create images, and more.

The new features are available for testing as of Monday, following a delay in the launch of an AI-enhanced upgrade to Siri. The updated Shortcuts app aims to make AI more accessible to all users, including those who may have found it too complex in the past.

Popular shortcuts available include creating memes, tracking time, creating playlists, and setting reminders, among others. This update could serve as a temporary solution to the delays in fully upgrading Siri with AI capabilities, providing a more efficient user experience on the iPhone.
