German prosecutors, with the help of a U.S.-European operation, have seized infrastructure belonging to the BlackSuit ransomware gang. The gang, known for major cyberattacks, had its servers and systems taken down in a coordinated effort on July 24. The operation secured valuable data to identify those responsible for the attacks. BlackSuit, with 184 victims worldwide, targeted various industries, including manufacturing and healthcare. The gang’s dark web leak site is now offline, displaying a seizure notice. The operation involved ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations unit and Europol. Reports suggest the gang rebranded from Royal to BlackSuit in 2024, with former members forming a new gang called Chaos.
