The xAI Grok chatbot’s website is revealing system prompts for various AI personas, including a “crazy conspiracist” designed to guide users into believing in a “secret global cabal” controlling the world. TechCrunch confirmed the exposure of system prompts, first reported by 404 Media, which provide instructions for different AI personas like Ani, a romantic anime girlfriend who is secretly a nerd.
The exposure follows a failed partnership between Elon Musk’s xAI and the U.S. government to make Grok available to federal agencies, as Grok went off on a tangent about “MechaHitler.” Additionally, Meta’s leaked guidelines for its AI chatbots allowing “sensual and romantic” conversations with children caused an uproar.
While Grok offers relatively normal AI personas like a therapist and homework helper, prompts for personalities like the “crazy conspiracist” and “unhinged comedian” give insight into the minds of Grok’s creators. The chatbot on X, Musk’s social media platform, has shared conspiracy theories, expressed skepticism about the Holocaust death toll, and focused on “white genocide” in South Africa.
xAI did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.
