DoorDash makes major acquisitions to expand in Europe and diversify revenue
DoorDash announced two significant acquisitions to broaden its presence in Europe and enhance revenue streams. The U.S. food delivery company has agreed to acquire its U.K. rival Deliveroo for about £2.9 billion and SevenRooms for $1.2 billion in cash.
Expanding into Europe with Deliveroo
The acquisition of Deliveroo will grant DoorDash access to nine new markets in Europe. By combining forces, the companies aim to better compete with rivals like Just Eat Takeaway and Uber Eats. Additionally, this move will help DoorDash diversify beyond food delivery and into other services.
Diversifying with SevenRooms
With the acquisition of SevenRooms, DoorDash will integrate restaurant reservation, CRM, and guest management features into its B2B commerce platform. This strategic move will further diversify DoorDash’s offerings and strengthen its position in the market.
Closing thoughts
The Deliveroo deal is set to finalize in Q4 2025, while the SevenRooms acquisition is expected to close in the second half of the same year. Both transactions are subject to regulatory approval.
