Voice AI startup ElevenLabs has recently unveiled a new feature called GenFM, available on their ElevenLabs Reader iOS app. This feature allows users to upload various types of content, such as YouTube videos, text, or documents, to create a multispeaker podcast similar to Google’s NotebookLM.

GenFM Feature Details

GenFM currently supports 32 languages, including English, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese. Upon uploading content, the app automatically selects two voices to generate a podcast, offering over a dozen voices for users to choose from.

Human Touch in AI-Generated Podcasts

One interesting aspect of GenFM is the inclusion of human elements in the AI-generated podcast creation process. The app adds elements like “ums,” “ahs,” and thoughtful pauses to enhance the natural conversation flow. This approach aims to strike a balance between natural, human-like dialogue and the utility of the content.

ElevenLabs intends to introduce more customization options and the ability to incorporate multiple sources for creating generative AI podcasts. Additionally, the company has announced plans to invest $11 million in the Polish startup ecosystem, establish an R&D center in Warsaw, and expand its operations into India.

Overall, ElevenLabs’ GenFM feature represents a significant step forward in leveraging AI technology to make audio narratives more accessible across different languages and voices.
