Legal Troubles for TikTok

Fourteen U.S. attorneys general filed a lawsuit against TikTok, claiming that the platform has a negative impact on minors’ mental health and collects data without proper consent. This legal battle adds to the challenges faced by TikTok, which is already under scrutiny for violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

Potential Ban Looming

In addition to the ongoing legal battles, TikTok is also facing the possibility of being banned in the U.S. if its parent company ByteDance fails to sell the platform by January 19, 2025. This deadline adds further uncertainty to TikTok’s future in the American market.
