Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is making significant changes to the company’s AI efforts, with a focus on developing AI “superintelligence.”
All AI teams at Meta will now be grouped under a new division called Meta Superintelligence Labs. This move was revealed in an internal memo seen by Bloomberg.
Heading this new group is Alexandr Wang, former CEO of Scale AI, who will serve as the chief AI officer. He will collaborate with Nat Friedman, former CEO of GitHub, to oversee Meta’s AI products and applied research.
Zuckerberg’s goal is to stay ahead in the artificial general intelligence (AGI) race, which has led to the acquisition of AI companies and talented employees from leading firms. Recently, Meta invested $14.3 billion in Scale AI, bringing Wang on board.
Moreover, Meta has successfully attracted 11 new AI researchers from competitors, including notable names like Pei Sun from Google DeepMind and Joel Pobar from Anthropic.
This restructuring signals Meta’s commitment to advancing AI technology and pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve.
