Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have received new AI-powered upgrades, allowing users to engage in ongoing conversations with Meta’s AI and translate between languages. Owners in the U.S. and Canada early access program can now download firmware v11, introducing “live AI” that enables continuous interaction with Meta’s AI assistant. This feature allows wearers to ask follow-up questions or change topics without the need for a wakeword. Additionally, live AI works with real-time video, allowing users to ask questions about their surroundings.
The introduction of real-time AI video for Ray-Ban Meta was a significant focus at Meta’s Connect dev conference. With this update, Meta becomes one of the first tech giants to offer real-time AI video on smart glasses. The company also added live translation, enabling users to translate real-time speech between English and Spanish, French, or Italian. Wearers can hear translations through the glasses’ open-ear speakers and view transcripts on their paired phone.
Ray-Ban Meta now supports Shazam with firmware v11, allowing users to identify songs by saying “Hey, Meta, Shazam this song.” However, Meta warns that new features like live AI and live translation may not always be accurate, as they are continuously improving the user experience. Despite this, Ray-Ban Meta continues to be a top-selling glasses brand in many regions, with ongoing updates and enhancements being rolled out to users.
