The Rivian camp kitchen, originally unveiled as a prototype in 2019, never made it to production despite generating significant interest. However, Rivian has now introduced a revamped and more compact version called the “travel kitchen”, retailing for $1,400. This new offering is part of Rivian’s strategy to cater to outdoor enthusiasts and expand its product line alongside the R2 SUV and future R3 EVs.
The original camp kitchen, larger and more cumbersome, required a special shuttle system for installation in the R1T pickup truck’s gear tunnel and was priced at $5,000. In contrast, the new travel kitchen is designed to be more portable, featuring a two-burner induction cooktop and food-safe prep space. Additionally, the kitchen includes sustainable elements such as a cutting board made from recycled materials and interiors from castor plants.
To complement the travel kitchen, Rivian is offering a range of add-on accessories in partnership with outdoor company Snow Peak, including cookware, utensils, and a coffee grinder. This move is part of Rivian’s broader effort to establish itself as a brand for outdoor enthusiasts while diversifying its product offerings.
