There is ongoing scrutiny surrounding China’s acquisition of advanced Nvidia chips despite strict U.S. export controls, with reports indicating that Chinese merchants have already begun ordering Nvidia’s powerful Blackwell GPUs. Singaporean police recently arrested three individuals for allegedly smuggling Nvidia chips, with the men facing charges of fraud related to a supply of servers. Investigations are underway in Singapore to determine if the servers, manufactured by Dell and Supermicro, contained restricted Nvidia chips and were diverted from their intended destination of Malaysia. Despite selling to Singapore, Nvidia’s latest annual report shows that the country only accounted for 18% of fiscal year 2025 revenue, with actual shipments representing less than 2% of sales. Dell has emphasized its strict trade compliance program and commitment to investigating non-compliant customers, while Nvidia declined to comment and Supermicro has yet to respond to requests for comment.
