SoftBank is moving forward with its goal of establishing a significant AI presence in Japan, with the recent announcement of its acquisition of a former Sharp factory to convert into an artificial intelligence data center. The $676 million deal includes both the land and buildings of the Sharp Sakai Plant in Osaka, marking a strategic move by SoftBank to bolster its data center capacity for AI development.
