Telegram is stepping up its game by offering more ways for creators to earn money on its platform. The latest addition includes monthly paid subscriptions that users can buy with Stars, the app’s digital currency, to unlock exclusive content from their favorite creators.

Get Paid for Your Content

Now, content creators can create invite links for users to join their channel in exchange for a monthly fee in Stars. This feature allows creators to charge for early or extra content access, similar to Patreon. Creators have the freedom to set their own price for their content and can even convert Stars into Toncoin cryptocurrency rewards or subsidized ads. While Telegram takes a cut from transactions involving Stars, the exact commission rate is still undisclosed.

Direct Support with Star Reactions

In addition to subscriptions, Telegram is rolling out Star Reactions, a feature that allows users to show their appreciation and support to creators directly. Similar to YouTube’s “Super Thanks” and X’s Tips, creators will receive 100% of the Stars sent through this feature.

Growth and Future Plans

These new features complement Telegram’s existing efforts to help creators monetize their content. With a user base of 950 million active users last month and a goal to reach 1 billion users this year, Telegram is on track for massive growth. Founder Pavel Durov has mentioned the company’s plans to achieve profitability next year and even considering a potential public offering in the future.
