Thanksgiving weekend marks the start of the holiday shopping season, with strong e-commerce sales predicted. Salesforce reported $33.6 billion in global online sales on Thanksgiving, up 6%, with the U.S. market up 8% to $8.1 billion. Adobe’s U.S.-only figures showed a 9% increase in spending. Mobile shopping soared, accounting for 59.5% of online sales in the U.S. Salesforce also noted a 3% increase in orders made on mobile devices. Cyber Week, starting before Thanksgiving, saw a 7% and 14% increase in global and U.S. sales, respectively. Generative AI tools are on the rise in e-commerce, with a 32% increase reported by Salesforce.
