The Boring Company’s Challenges with the Las Vegas Loop

The Boring Company’s 2.4-mile underground Loop in Las Vegas has been facing numerous challenges, particularly in terms of trespassing incidents. According to a report by Fortune, there have been at least 67 trespassing occurrences since 2022. The Loop was designed to shuttle passengers underneath the Las Vegas Convention Center using Tesla models, but unauthorized individuals, including a skateboarder, a photographer, and unauthorized vehicles, have found their way into the tunnels.

Measures Taken to Address Trespassing

To address the issue of trespassing, The Boring Company has implemented measures such as installing license plate readers to block unrecognized vehicles from entering the tunnels. Despite these efforts, some individuals continue to trespass out of curiosity or confusion, mistaking the tunnel entrances for parking or rideshare areas.

Although The Boring Company’s plans for a high-speed transportation hyperloop seem to be on hold, the Loop has still been utilized by over 2 million passengers since its opening in June 2021. This indicates a strong demand for alternative transportation options in the Las Vegas area.
