TikTok Lets Songwriters Showcase Their Music

TikTok is stepping up its game by introducing new features that allow songwriters to shine a spotlight on their creations. In beta testing, these features include a “Songwriter” label and a special tab where they can showcase their music.

Access is currently limited to a select group of publishing partners and songwriters, with others eager to join having to sign up for a waitlist. The decision to implement these features stemmed from surveys conducted with over 870 songwriters, as well as interviews to better grasp their needs in terms of profile building and monetization opportunities.

According to TikTok, more than half of songwriters who utilize social media to promote their work already turn to the platform. This unique offering allows songwriters to not only share their music but also tell stories about their craft and lives.

Joining the Likes of Spotify and Tidal

TikTok is following in the footsteps of streaming giants like Spotify, which has long provided a platform for songwriters to showcase their work. Tidal also entered the game by launching a tool to help musicians track royalties and manage their songwriting credits.

Despite discontinuing its music streaming service last year, TikTok remains a key platform for music discovery and artist promotion. The introduction of tools like TikTok for Artists further solidifies its position as a hub for up-and-coming musicians.

With the music industry constantly evolving, TikTok’s latest features offer a fresh opportunity for songwriters to connect with fans and elevate their presence in the digital realm.
