President Donald Trump is really dragging out this TikTok ban, isn’t he? He’s delayed it twice already, and now he’s saying he’s willing to do it again. In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Trump mentioned that if TikTok’s U.S. operations aren’t sold to American owners by the June 19 deadline, he’ll give them yet another extension.
“I shouldn’t say this, but I have a soft spot for TikTok,” Trump admitted. Last year, Congress passed a law that would ban TikTok if its parent company, ByteDance, didn’t sell the app. The ban briefly went into effect in January, but Trump delayed it for 90 days, hoping for a joint venture with U.S. ownership. In April, he gave them another 75-day extension, citing tensions with the Chinese government.
Looks like TikTok is getting more lives than a cat with all these extensions!
