Photo editing and sharing app VSCO is expanding the availability of its iOS camera app, Capture, worldwide. Initially launched in June with limited availability in Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, the app is now accessible to users globally. VSCO has also announced the acquisition of The Freelance Photographer, a platform offering online and offline workshops for photography and videography enthusiasts.

VSCO Capture: Features and Functionality

VSCO’s Capture app, the company’s first new app in over a decade, focuses on capturing images with a specific aesthetic. With more than 50 presets and real-time effects, Capture provides manual control over camera settings such as shutter speed and exposure. Users can capture images in RAW and ProRAW formats, with the option to sync photos with VSCO’s cloud through the main VSCO app.

The Freelance Photographer offers a range of courses, with subscription plans starting at $208 per month for basic coaching and $625 per month for access to tools, courses, and personal mentoring from the founder, Paul Weaver. This acquisition aligns with VSCO’s strategy of catering to professional photographers, complementing initiatives like VSCO Hub, VSCO Sites, and VSCO Canvas, aimed at connecting brands with photographers and facilitating collaborative projects.
