Waymo’s Driverless Vehicles and Parking Tickets

Waymo now has more than 300 driverless vehicles zipping passengers around San Francisco, but when it comes to parking, things can get a bit sticky. The rolling robots managed to rack up a whopping 589 parking violations totaling $65,065 in fines last year. From blocking traffic to parking in prohibited areas, these driverless cars sure know how to push the limits.

Parking Woes in San Francisco

In all fairness, getting a parking ticket in San Francisco is as easy as pie. The city hands them out like candy, with an estimated 1.2 million tickets issued last year alone. So, it’s no surprise that even Waymo’s vehicles are not exempt from the parking madness in the city by the bay.

A Waymo spokesperson mentioned that the company is working on addressing this issue, but let’s be real – until every car on the road is driverless, parking problems are here to stay. Just like human drivers, Waymo’s vehicles sometimes have to make tough decisions like stopping in loading zones or briefly parking between trips. It’s all part of the game, and until we reach a fully autonomous future, parking tickets will continue to be a thorn in the side of driverless technology.
