Talk about customer service. On Wednesday, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced on X the new feature on Google Calendar to duplicate events. This addition was specifically requested by Stripe co-founder John Collison last month, also through an X post.
Request and Implementation
On July 5, Collison asked if Google Calendar users could have a Ctrl-click option to easily duplicate events, similar to many native calendar applications. Collison tagged Pichai in his post at that time.
While users often provide feedback and complaints to companies and CEOs online, it’s a different story when the CEO not only responds but also implements the requested change. This was the case for Collison, as Pichai wrote, “This feature is now live for everyone on Google Calendar on the web — thanks for the suggestion!”
Playful Responses
Naturally, some X users began to jest about Collison’s apparent influence by asking for his help with their specific concerns too. For instance, Box CEO Aaron Levie joked, “John, can you ask Waymo to work on El Camino through the peninsula? Thanks!”
