TikTok content creator Kelley Heyer is taking legal action against Roblox for featuring her dance to Charli XCX’s “Apple” without her permission.
Heyer’s viral dance, inspired by Charli XCX’s album “Brat,” gained immense popularity, leading to an invitation from Charli XCX to perform at her show in New York City.
Roblox and Fortnite incorporated the dance into their games, but Heyer claims that only Fortnite obtained proper licensing for her choreography.
Heyer’s attorney emphasized the importance of fair compensation for independent creators and expressed willingness to settle the dispute amicably.
Despite Roblox’s statement on intellectual property protection, Heyer estimates the platform profited significantly from the unauthorized use of her dance.
