As part of Apple’s Liquid Glass redesign, announced at WWDC 2025, the upcoming iOS 26 will introduce significant changes to native Apple features and apps.
### Lock Screen and Home Screen Updates
The Lock Screen and Home Screen will receive updates that align with the overall aesthetic of Liquid Glass. Apple will use a custom font called San Francisco on the Lock Screen to display the date and time, adapting to the chosen image’s space. Additionally, Lock Screen images will appear more animated with an AI-powered 3D effect, enhancing visual experiences.
### App Icon Customization and Music Integration
Users can continue customizing app icons on the Home Screen, with redesigned native app icons optimized for dark mode and a fresh all-clear look. Furthermore, when listening to music with the screen locked, animated representations of the music will be visible, similar to features on platforms like Spotify.
### Makeover for Native iOS Apps
Native iOS apps like Camera, Photos, Safari, FaceTime, Phone, and CarPlay will undergo a makeover in iOS 26. The Camera app will streamline navigation among settings, while the Photos app will reintroduce tabs for easier library and collection toggling. Safari will feature edge-to-edge web page display, and FaceTime and Phone apps will prioritize personalized contact posters and favorites for enhanced user experience.
### Apple CarPlay Enhancements
Apple CarPlay will see updates that allow users to display widgets, interact with messages, and pin conversations. These improvements aim to enhance the overall user experience, offering features like flight status widgets for convenient access while on the road.
