Facebook has announced a new monetization option for creators, allowing them to earn money from views on public stories. This opportunity is now available globally to creators enrolled in the Facebook Content Monetization program.

Creators can now earn money by sharing content on their Facebook stories, such as recipe videos, reels, or snippets of their everyday lives. Unlike other platforms, creators on Facebook can start earning money without having to meet specific view thresholds first. This move aims to incentivize content creation on the platform and provide creators with an additional revenue stream.

The Content Monetization program was launched last year, combining various monetization programs into one. After testing story monetization with select beta participants, Facebook has now made it available to all program members. Millions of creators were invited to join the program in 2024, with plans for open enrollment later this year. Interested creators who are not part of the program can request an invitation through the program’s website.

In a related development, Facebook reported that creators earned over $2 billion on the platform in 2024, with payouts for Reels and short videos increasing by over 80%. Since introducing monetization opportunities in 2017, Facebook has paid out to more than 4 million creators.
