Google is rolling out a new feature in its Chrome web browser that will provide AI-generated store reviews to help shoppers in the U.S. make informed purchasing decisions. By clicking on an icon next to the web address, users will see a pop-up with information about the store’s reputation for product quality, pricing, customer service, and more.
AI summaries for better shopping experience
The summaries are generated from reviews by partners like Bazaarvoice, Bizrate Insights, and Trustpilot. Initially available only in English on desktop, Google has not confirmed if mobile devices will get this feature.
Competition with Amazon’s AI features
Google’s move aims to enhance the shopping experience and compete with Amazon’s AI tools. The tech giant is also exploring ways to integrate AI into Chrome, such as developing an AI agent for automated actions. This shift aligns with Google’s broader strategy to become a modern shopping platform, offering AI-assisted product recommendations and personalized shopping experiences.
