According to a PowerPoint presentation dated July 1, the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool is designed to analyze approximately 200,000 federal regulations and identify those that are no longer necessary under the law. The objective is to eliminate half of these regulations within the first year of President Donald Trump’s return to office.
Progress and Implementation
Progress has already begun, with the tool being used to review regulations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and to draft deregulations at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
White House Response
While no specific plan has been approved yet, a White House spokesperson commended the DOGE team as being the top professionals in the field.
DOGE, previously led by Elon Musk in the early months of the Trump administration, has introduced various AI tools, with one notable tool that had inaccuracies in estimating the size of contracts within the Veterans Affairs department.
