Diligent Robotics is expanding its leadership team to support the growth of its fleet of humanoid robots used in hospitals and pharmacies.

Austin-based Diligent recently appointed Rashed Haq as Chief Technology Officer and Todd Brugger as Chief Operating Officer. Both Haq and Brugger previously worked at Cruise, the self-driving subsidiary of GM that closed earlier this year.

Strategic Leadership Additions

Andrea Thomaz, co-founder and CEO of Diligent Robotics, stated that the timing was right for these leadership hires. The company has deployed around 100 Moxi humanoid robots in healthcare facilities and is now focusing on scaling its operations.

Thomaz was impressed by Haq’s AI expertise and experience with practical AI applications at Cruise. She also found Brugger’s experience in scaling Cruise’s operations suitable for Diligent’s needs.

Shared Vision

Haq and Brugger expressed that joining Diligent was a natural progression for them. The technology and deployment stage at Diligent aligned closely with their previous work at Cruise.

Brugger highlighted the similarities in operational challenges and priorities between Diligent and Cruise, emphasizing the importance of safety and reliability in both companies.

Company Background

Established in 2017 by Thomaz and Vivian Chu, Diligent Robotics has deployed Moxi robots in over 25 healthcare networks. The company has secured over $90 million in venture funding from investors like Tiger Global, True Ventures, and Canaan Partners.

By bringing in experienced executives from Cruise, Diligent Robotics aims to further strengthen its position in the robotics industry and continue its growth trajectory.
