Google DeepMind is introducing Gemini 2.5 Deep Think, its most advanced AI reasoning model, capable of answering questions by exploring and considering multiple ideas simultaneously to choose the best answer. Subscribers to Google’s $250-per-month Ultra subscription will have access to Gemini 2.5 Deep Think in the Gemini app. This model, unveiled at Google I/O 2025, entails multiple AI agents working in parallel to tackle questions, resulting in improved answers. Google used a variation of this model to win a gold medal at the International Math Olympiad.

Gemini 2.5 Deep Think has been enhanced since its initial announcement and now incorporates novel reinforcement learning techniques to better utilize its reasoning paths. Google highlights that this model can help solve problems requiring creativity and strategic planning. Furthermore, it has achieved state-of-the-art performance on Humanity’s Last Exam (HLE) and LiveCodeBench 6, outperforming models from OpenAI, xAI, and Anthropic.

The model can generate longer responses, work with code execution and Google Search, and produce detailed web development tasks. Leading AI labs, including Elon Musk’s xAI and OpenAI, have also adopted multi-agent systems for improved performance. However, these systems are costlier to maintain, potentially leading tech companies to offer them through premium subscription plans. Google intends to share Gemini 2.5 Deep Think with testers via the Gemini API to explore its usage by developers and enterprises.
