Popular battle royale game Fortnite has made a comeback on the U.S. App Store amidst the ongoing legal battle between game maker Epic Games and Apple. The game is now also available on the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the EU. Epic mentioned that Fortnite will soon be searchable on the App Store as well.
Apple had removed Fortnite from the App Store last year due to Epic adding a payment option using their virtual currency with a discount. This led to Epic suing Apple, resulting in a judge ruling in Epic’s favor regarding anticompetitive pricing rules. Following this, Epic resubmitted Fortnite to the App Store, facing an approval delay that they accused Apple of causing.
Recently, U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers stated that Apple should approve Epic’s submission or provide a legal basis for blocking it, possibly hinting at a favorable outcome for Epic. The new version of Fortnite on the App Store also provides a 20% cash back for in-game items purchased directly from Epic.
Tech and VC heavyweights are set to join the Disrupt 2025 agenda, showcasing an exciting lineup for the event’s future.
