Beeper app relaunches with enhanced security features
Beeper, the multi-service messaging app, is relaunching its app with a more secure version that no longer requires its own cloud services. The app, now owned by Automattic, integrates with Texts.com and supports a wide range of messaging platforms.
Enhanced Features for Premium Users
Premium offerings include access to more accounts, power-user features like reminders and incognito mode, AI voice note transcriptions, and more. The goal is to simplify the messaging app landscape while maintaining security and privacy.
New Subscription Plans
Users can upgrade to Beeper Plus for $9.99 per month, offering connection to 10 messaging services and additional features. A higher tier, Beeper Plus Plus, caters to businesses and social media managers with unlimited account access.
Integration with Other Apps
Automattic aims to integrate Beeper with its other acquisitions, such as the personal CRM Clay. The combined services will enhance user interactions and data, providing a powerful product for users.
Migration to Beeper
With millions of registered users, Beeper is offering migration options for Texts.com users who prefer the enhanced security features and on-device technology. The app continues to evolve and integrate new services for a seamless messaging experience.
Bagaria mentioned that there may still be some lingering issues regarding reliability when transitioning to the on-device model, but these are being addressed as they arise. Beeper Cloud will eventually be phased out once the company is confident that the on-device model can meet everyone’s daily needs.
Looking ahead, Beeper plans to share its data with other companies, with user consent and privacy controls in place. For example, a potential Model Context Protocol (MCP) could enable users to interact with chat apps through AI assistants like Claude or ChatGPT, asking for tasks such as summarizing important messages.
These advancements will take time, as Bagaria emphasized his strong focus on privacy. He envisions a transparent solution that clearly outlines data access, allowing users to manually approve or deny data requests.
