Tea app decides to disable DMs following second data breach with over a million private messages exposed

Last week, the dating safety app Tea faced a data breach, exposing sensitive images and personal data of 72,000 users. The breach led to the app disabling its direct messaging feature. Independent security researcher Kasra Rahjerdi discovered messages revealing private conversations among users. In response, Tea temporarily disabled its direct messaging feature as a precaution. Despite the security issues, Tea remains a popular app, ranking No. 2 on the Apple App Store’s top free app chart with around 2 million monthly active users.
