US-China tensions rise as Huawei’s AI chips take center stage

Just a few weeks after the U.S. and China took steps to ease tensions in the trade war, new disputes have arisen – this time involving semiconductors.

Tensions escalated following guidelines released by the Trump administration, causing China to accuse the U.S. of undermining recent trade talks. The U.S. Commerce Department has since revised the wording of its original guidance to address the concerns raised by China.
