Samsung is reportedly nearing an investment in AI search startup Perplexity, with plans to integrate the company’s technology into its devices. Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, reported that Samsung is considering pre-installing Perplexity’s app and assistant on its phones, as well as incorporating its search features into the default browser.
Integration with Bixby, Samsung’s own assistant, is also on the table, with Perplexity’s AI tech potentially powering some of Bixby’s features. The partnership between the two companies may be announced later this year, according to Bloomberg.
Perplexity, currently in the process of raising a $500 million round at a $14 billion valuation, has caught the attention of other tech giants as well. Apple has reportedly considered adding Perplexity as a search engine option to Safari, while Motorola has already announced a partnership with Perplexity to enhance AI features in its devices.
