Much has changed in the 16 months since I last visited Figure’s headquarters in Sunnyvale. The company now has signage on the outside of the office building, indicating its presence in the Silicon Valley office park. The team has expanded to 130 engineers, with plans to move to a larger space next year using some of their $1.5 billion in funding.

Systems Integration and Testing Wing

Since my visit in May 2023, Figure has opened the systems integration and testing wing in its current space. This area, referred to by CEO Brett Adcock as “the back,” is where the robot’s components undergo rigorous testing to ensure functionality and performance.

Automotive Assembly Emphasis

The primary office space is where Figure engineers work hands-on with the robots, testing them for various real-world work scenarios. There is a strong emphasis on automotive assembly, a result of the company’s recent collaboration with BMW. The robots have been deployed at BMW’s Spartanburg plant, working around the clock for weeks. Figure plans to return to the plant with a fleet of robots in January to continue their tasks.
