Apple is enhancing its Apple News+ subscription service by adding a new and exciting feature: games. The latest addition to the lineup is the Emoji Game, an original title that joins other popular games like Crossword puzzle, Sudoku, and Quartiles. This new game, available in both the U.S. and Canada, combines logic and wordplay inspired by the use of emojis in our daily communication.

In the Emoji Game, players are tasked with solving phrases using emojis to complete the puzzle in the fewest moves possible. For example, players may need to match the emoji for a pear with the letters “ap” to form the word “appear.” The game offers a challenging and fun experience, encouraging players to think creatively and use abstract thinking to find the solutions.

Players can unveil clues to help them when they are stuck, but this will require them to use up one of their moves. The goal is to complete multiple phrases each day to achieve a perfect score in six moves. Leaderboards allow players to track their progress and compare scores with friends and other users. In the upcoming iOS 26 update, players will also be able to challenge friends to play through the new Games app.

To add a unique Apple touch to the game, Apple has integrated Genmoji, custom emojis created using Apple Intelligence, into the gameplay. This expands the range of emojis available and adds a personalized element to the gaming experience. The Emoji Game is developed by Apple in collaboration with The Puzzle Society (now GoComics) and is exclusively available to Apple News+ subscribers in the U.S. and Canada on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Subscribers will have access to a variety of premium publishers, narrated audio, local news, sports, and the recently introduced recipe-saving feature, Apple News+ Food.
