IBM announced on Monday that it has acquired Seek AI, a platform that lets users ask questions about enterprise data using natural language. Seek CEO Sarah Nagy shared that the startup’s technology will play a significant role in Watsonx AI Labs, IBM’s new NYC-based AI accelerator.
Seek, founded by Nagy in 2021, offers tools to help businesses make better use of their data. Their software allows users to interact with data through a chatbot-like interface, translating natural language questions into database queries and providing high-level data analysis.
The acquisition comes as IBM focuses on expanding its investments in AI, particularly for enterprise use. This move aligns with IBM’s successful strategy so far, with strong Q1 earnings driven by software growth and high demand for AI solutions.
Watsonx AI Labs aims to bring together IBM researchers and engineers to collaborate on building AI solutions for companies. The accelerator will also foster partnerships with local colleges and research institutions. Startups that launch products successfully at the lab will receive support from IBM resources and potential investment from IBM Ventures and its $500 million enterprise AI fund.
