UK looks into how TikTok, Reddit, and Imgur keep kids’ info safe

The U.K.’s privacy watchdog is on the case! 🕵️‍♂️ They’re investigating three social media giants to see how well they’re protecting kids’ privacy online. 🛡️

TikTok is first on the list. 🕺 They want to know how TikTok uses personal info from 13- to 17-year-olds to recommend videos. 📹 The ICO is worried about harmful content reaching young eyes. 👀

But that’s not all! Reddit and Imgur are also under the microscope. 🔬 The ICO wants to know how they check users’ ages and handle kids’ personal info. 🧒📝

It’s still early days, but the ICO is keeping a close eye on things. 👀 They’re checking for any breaches of data protection laws before deciding their next steps. 🚦

This is all part of a bigger effort to keep social platforms in line. 📱 Last year, Ofcom looked into OnlyFans for not checking users’ ages properly, but they dropped the case. 📅 And back in 2023, TikTok got slapped with a $16 million fine for not getting parents’ permission before collecting kids’ data. 💸
