Apple challenges EU’s €500M fine for restricting payments on App Store

Apple Appeals EU’s €500 Million Fine

Apple filed an appeal against the EU’s decision to fine the company €500 million for not complying with rules that mandate developers to steer users outside the App Store to make purchases.

Revised Fee Structure

In response to the fine issued by the European Commission, Apple revised its fee structure for app distribution in the EU. The new framework includes an initial acquisition fee, a store services fee, and a core technology commission to accommodate alternative payment methods.

Apple made this move to avoid further fines from the European Commission, stating that the Commission’s decision and fine go beyond what the law requires.
