US healthcare provider reports hacker theft of medical and personal data from 1M+ patients

Community Health Center Confirms Data Breach

Community Health Center (CHC), a Connecticut-based nonprofit healthcare provider, has confirmed that a hacker accessed the sensitive data of more than a million patients.

Details of the Data Breach

In a filing with Maine’s attorney general, CHC revealed that a “skilled criminal hacker” breached their network on October 14, 2024, stealing health and personal information.

The compromised data includes addresses, phone numbers, diagnoses, treatment details, test results, Social Security numbers, and health insurance information.

No Major Cybercriminal Group Claimed Responsibility

Despite the breach, CHC stated that the hacker did not delete or encrypt any data and that their daily operations have not been impacted. As of now, no major cybercriminal group has claimed responsibility for the cyberattack.
